NewsKings Of Leon hit high on Billboard chartKings of Leon's third album 'Because Of The Times' has earned the band their most successful first week sales in the US so far. Hitting the Billboard charts at number 25, and with sales in excess of 40,000 copies, the Nashville band are one step closer to super stardom in the US. Despite their popularity in the UK, including the number one album this week, the band have yet to repeat that success at home. However, with each tour selling out larger venues than before, frontman Caleb Followill is excited to hit the road in the US, including a date at New York's Roseland Ballroom. Speaking to NME.COM, Followill revealed the band have always felt welcome in the Big Apple. "We were scared to death when we were first starting out at the thought of playing New York because we knew we were definitely different from a lot of music there, but they embraced it. The thing with New York is if you're going to do something they want you to do it full on, and all out. I mean when we got there it didn't matter that we sounded country or looked funny, they applauded us for it." They will play: Indio, CA Coachella Festival (April 28) Seattle, WA Moore Theater (May 2) Portland, OR Crystal Ballroom (3) Denver, CO Ogden (5) Kansas City, MO Voodoo Lounge @ Harrah's (6) Tulsa, OK Cains (7) Austin, TX Stubbs (9) New Orleans, LA House of Blues (11) Houston, TX Warehouse Live (12) Dallas, TX House of Blues (13) Indianapolis, IN Vogue (15) Milwaukee, WI Rave (17) Minneapolis, MN First Ave (18) Chicago, IL Riviera (19) Louisville, KY Headliners (21) Cleveland, OH House of Blues (22) Cincinnati, OH Bogarts (24) St. Louis, MO Pageant (25) Atlanta, GA Tabernacle (June 1) Asheville, NC Orange Peel (2) New York, NY Roseland (5) Boston, MA Avalon (6) Philadelphia, PA Electric Factory (7) Toronto, ONT Kool Haus (12) Columbus, OH Newport Music Hall (13) Manchester, TN Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (15) Phil Spector trial: Day 50 Judge Larry Paul Fidler reprimanded the defence team in the Phil Spector murder trial today (August 16) for violating evidence rules. Fidler said that the defence ignored proper protocol when presenting criminalist Michael Baden's surprise testimony that actress Lana Clarkson did not die immediately after being shot, because it did not give the prosecution a chance for rebuttal. "I have no doubt, let me say that as clearly as I can, that this was done to gain tactical advantage," Fidler said. Defence attorney Bradley Brunon insisted that he knew nothing of the new evidence prior to Baden's testimony, reports the Los Angeles Times. When Brunon added that the judge should avoid penalising Spector for sins committed by his lawyers, Fidler got upset. "That is really offensive," Fidler said. "You better withdraw that comment." Fidler decided to let the testimony stand, but instructed jurors to take the defence's actions into consideration when deciding whether Baden is a credible witness. Spector is accused of murdering Clarkson at his Los Angeles mansion on February 3, 2003. The defence contends the actress' death was suicide. |
